Good Luck and Happy Cooking!
The intent of this is competition is for dads and their kids to work together and to have fun. Please involve your child
(ren) in the preparation of the chili as much as you can to make them a part of this activity and provide a learning
experience for them.

The entry fee will be waived this year thanks to an anonymous donation. Participants may enter up to two (2)
different chili recipes.

There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize and a cash prize for the People’s Choice Award.

Chili
For the purpose of this competition chili is defined as: any kind of meat or combination of meats cooked with
chili peppers, various other spices and other ingredients (sorry, alcohol is not permitted in the chili)

All chili must be fully prepared at home prior to the event and brought to the competition in a working slow
cooker/crockpot "ready-to-eat" (chafing dishes or sterno's are not permitted).

Participants may arrive to set up their areas no earlier than 4:30 PM, and no later than 5:00PM.

Each participant must produce one large (1-1 ½ gallon capacity) slow cooker chili entry.

What to bring
Each participant must provide a complete list of ingredients that were used in the recipe in order for the chili to
be permitted to be judged. The actual recipe and quantities are not required.

Each participant must supply all toppings and sides that go with their chili if it is intended to be eaten with such
things (i.e. cheese, onions, etc).

Participants are responsible for supplying all of their own serving utensils and crock pot/slow cooker.

Participants must supply their own working extension cord.

What CPMTA provides
The Chesak/ Martin PTA will supply each participant with cups and spoons for judging and general public
sampling.

Chesak/ Martin PTA will supply a 6 ft table and 2 chairs for each participant entry.

Judging
Upon check-in each entry will be assigned a number and given four (4) small cups in which they need to
submit their entry for “blind” judging. Each contestant should make sure the numbers match between the cup
and their name tag. If toppings are intended to be eaten with the submission they should be provided so the
judges can taste it as you would like it judged.

Samples are due by 5:30 PM to give the judges adequate time to score. The decisions of the judges are final.

Scoring will be based on: taste/ flavor, spiciness, appearance, aroma, aftertaste and texture.

People’s Choice voting will end at 6:15 pm.

Other
An adult must be present at all times. For safety reasons, no children under the age of 5 will be permitted
behind the table at any time.

All winners will be announced at approximately 6:30 PM and prizes awarded. Winners must be present to win
any award.

Each participant is responsible for clean-up of their space at the end of the cook-off.

To make it fair and fun for everyone, please follow the rules.  Failure to follow the rules listed above will forfeit
your entry in the contest.
