What we do:
The assemblies committee is responsible for booking the assemblies that take
place in both Chesak and Martin schools.  Assemblies can be anything from
science to character education and are an opportunity for kids to get a break from
their normal daily routine and be entertained while learning something new.
Paddy Lynn, who visited the Kindergartners
on January 12, 2011, uses props and the
students in her Storyacting for Children to
tell various children's stories.  She
incorporates humor and a positive
message and she encourages children to
have fun with storytelling while exploring
role play.

Craig Pierce - author of American Dog
Tales (3rd grade)
Mr. Pierce talked to 3rd graders in January
of 2011 about the history of greyhounds,
and the writing process.  He showed the
kids how an idea can turn into an awesome
story that everyone enjoys!
John Lynn came to visit the 4th graders in
March 2011 to give his Prairie State Primer
presentation on our home state of Illinois to
our 4th graders.  Having walked the
400-mile length of Illinois and visited all of
its 2400 towns, he provides insight into
what makes Illinois special.

Tim Hannig entertained the 1st and 2nd
graders on Nov 15, 2010.  The Pro Kids
Show has a message for students through
wit and warmth.  The audience is reminded
of the importance of character traits like
honesty, respect, cooperation and
responsibility.  The show is a fast paced,
entertaining one-man show with custom
music, amazing illusions, comedy,
storytelling, and audience participation.
