►"Thank you for organizing this event [Chili
Cook Off]! Everyone had a blast! And we all
went home full of great chili and happy! I
can see this event turning into a fun
competition for years to come."
-Michael Jensen, Decisive Graphics
►"I don’t think the community realizes what
the PTA does for our students (and their
teachers). I mean, we are sending 300 or
so kids to Midway Village and it is not
costing the families a dime!!!! I am so
appreciative of all the PTA does for us!!"
- Ms. Kunde, 4th grade teacher
►"I wanted to personally thank you for
making my life run a little smoother.
Wrapping my gifts was such selfless act of
kindness and needs to be recognized!"
-Mrs. Hopp, Kindergarten teacher
►"My kids had a great time at the Holiday
Shoppe (even with the long lines) and they
are excited to give each other their gifts.
Thanks for hosting another great event."

Mrs. Swanson, Mrs. Carrasco, Mrs. Seeman
and Mrs. Kill
►"All staff members at Chesak Elementary
would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to
Niki Burkey and the PTA for their generosity
during Teacher's Appreciation Week. From
the decorations, fun filled events, and daily
surprises in our mailboxes, to the daily
goodies, lunch, and snacks, we cannot say
thank you enough. We feel very blessed to
be teaching our wonderful students and
work with such a great staff and fabulous
PTA! Thank you!"
►"To our PTA: Thank you so much for the
absolutely FABULOUS Teacher
Appreciation Week! Despite our wonder
and amazement each year, you always
manage to top yourselves. This year was no
exception. We loved all the food,
decorations, and games; the spinning
wheel was genius! You spread such good
cheer throughout the building at the perfect
time. Thanks again, Martin Staff."
Let us know what you think
Many people were involved in our budget decisions last spring. We as a PTA face
an impending budget deficit in 2012 and needed to address costs and cut where
possible. We are trying to be very responsible with our membership money, which
is all generated through fundraising/donations. The budget shortfall we are facing
has been years in the making and has been compounded by (1) loss of revenue
from fundraiser efforts, (2) increased need for us to support student and
classrooms initiatives in light of current economic conditions, and (3) increased
costs for the services we provide.
We have sought to address the issues by streamlining our organization and
making the chairperson more accountable and responsible for their budget
dollars. We have also looked to review vendors with whom we do business to
ensure we are getting the best value for our dollar. We also allocated more of our
budget to student enrichment, while diminishing dollars that go directly to benefit
our valuable teachers and staff, a request made directly by both school's staff and
administration.
Given all of that, we still were faced with having to cut classroom expenses for the
first time ever, a hard decision to make, but one we felt was fiscally responsible in
order for us to continue to support all our families long term. Given this set of
circumstances, we hope you will support us as much as possible with
membership dues this year and contributions to our fundraisers or direct
donations to our group. (All as tax deductible as the CM PTA is a 401 (c) (3) non
for profit organization.)
We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding, and of course your
support to our group that supports our students.
